Our charter school is still in the planning stages, and must first obtain approval by the Frederick County Board of Education before it can open. We need to demonstrate sufficient community support for the school in our application we submit to the Board of Education. Please email us if you have an interest in having your child attend or you simply want to see the school start so that other parents have more options for their children.

Charter Schools Mean Choices for Parents

Our school is a charter school, which means that it is a public school to which parents can choose to send their children. This school is different than the regular public schools, which are assigned to families based on where they live. Parents, who know their children's needs best, choose whether what our school plans to offer is the right fit for their children.

Parent Satisfaction

As a charter school, we must continually prove our value to parents, who can choose to go elsewhere. Parent satisfaction will be measured by the annual parent satisfaction survey. Year-over-year trends will be published. The School Improvement Committee will serve as the focal point for improving student and parent satisfaction. Made up of parents and teachers, this committee serves is the school’s improvement team and fulfills the requirements of FCPS policy 440.3.G. The primary focus of this committee is improving the school’s academic program, and will also facilitate communication between parents and school staff to resolve concerns.

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement will be encouraged through the creation of a Parent Teacher Organization, or PTO. This organization will have a volunteer committee that coordinates all volunteer efforts for the school, including but not limited to classroom volunteering, after school programs, and field trips. Another committee, the parent education committee, is responsible for offering parent nights featuring locally and nationally known speakers on the benefits of a classical education, scientifically-based reading instruction, issues in curriculum and instruction, how parents can help their children succeed, and other topics related to the school’s mission.
