FCCS Scholars Compete in the District MathCounts
Congratulations to the 18 "Mathletes" who participated in the district practice meet on January 10th:
8th Graders: Jeongmin S, Mason D, Violet I, Rosario S, Elias H,
7th Graders: Eva L, Analeigh M, Xander I, Alex D, Rohansa C, Shadrach G,
6th Graders: Zane H, Leela G, Everett H, & Jesse A.
5th Graders: Josephine R, Robert T, and Peter V.
Students worked long and hard on two individual rounds and one team round of advanced math problem-solving. The problem sets covered Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Probability, and Logical Reasoning. Thank you, scholars, for your amazing efforts!
Special honor goes to Eva Li, who placed 16th in the county out of 132 advanced middle school math scholars, and was recognized onstage at the conclusion of the meet. On a school level, congratulations to the top scorers at FCCS:

Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to compete in the February Chapter (Regional) MathCounts Meet. Our top fourteen Mathletes in grades 6-8 will continue to gear up for that competition over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for our Regional results update in late February!
Volunteer Opportunity: Grant Writing Support for FCCS
Deadline to express interest: EOD January 30, 2026
FCCS is seeking 1–2 volunteers to assist the Board of Trustees with grant writing for the Maryland Momentum Charter School Program (CSP) grant—a federally funded initiative supporting the expansion of high-quality public charter schools across Maryland.
The CSP grant is a critical step in FCCS’s continued progress toward securing a permanent facility and expanding opportunities for our students. The application portal opens February 19, 2026 and closes March 31, 2026.
We welcome individuals with experience in grant writing, education or nonprofit work, strong writing skills, and the ability to collaborate on a short-term, time-bound project.

8th Grade Baby Pictures
For this year’s 8th Grade tribute pages in the yearbook, our scholars have chosen a special theme: baby pictures! These photos will also be displayed outside the Library as part of a fun “guess who’s who” activity.

Apply to Serve on the Board of Trustees
FCCS is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve on its Board of Trustees (BOT). We welcome individuals from FCCS families and the wider Frederick community who share our mission, vision, and Virtues. Parents, grandparents, extended family members, retired educators, and community supporters are all encouraged to apply—or to nominate someone who would be a great fit.

Volunteer Trustees are essential to FCCS’s success. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in accounting, finance, facilities, fundraising, grant-writing, education, legal affairs, governance, advocacy, communications, public affairs, or commercial real estate—but all passionate candidates are welcome.
