It’s finally starting to feel like fall in the mornings! We had a wonderful time celebrating the season with our Trunk or Treat event during the day. Scholars enjoyed visiting the decorated trunks, collecting trinkets, and having fun in their costumes. The festivities continue tonight with our middle school costume dance. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make both of these events possible!
We also want to thank all the families who attended our Fall Grade Level Gatherings, as well as those who shared valuable feedback from home. Your input helps us celebrate what’s going well and refine our processes moving forward. For our middle school families, we still have two gatherings coming up: 5th & 6th Grade on Wednesday, 10/29, and 7th & 8th Grade on Thursday, 10/30. Both will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria.
Come out to support the Chick-Fil-A Fundraiser Night on October 27. Mention our school and a percentage of your order will be donated to FCCS.
Our next PTC meeting will take place on Thursday, 10/30, in the FCCS Conference Room at 7pm, with a virtual option available. This meeting is open to all members of FCCS, Inc. and is a great opportunity to stay connected through the Griffin Triangle, hear about upcoming events, and share your ideas.
Finally, as we reach the end of the term, this is a great time to have your scholar log in to Schoology and make sure all assignments are turned in. Have a wonderful weekend! |

Dear Families,
We’ve recently seen an increase in water-damaged books, even though protective book bags are being used. Please remind your child not to place water bottles inside their backpack with school or library books. Even small leaks can cause significant damage. Families are responsible for replacing lost or damaged books, and repeated incidents may result in loss of library privileges.
Help your scholar practice love by caring for books. If a book is lost or damaged, contact: library@frederickclassicalcharterschool.org.
Scholars can also enjoy digital books via the Sora Reading App: Sora Reading App To explore available library titles, visit: FCCS Library Catalog
Thank you for supporting a joyful reading community! |

Support MSDE’s Effort to Ensure Fair Funding for All Maryland Students |
Stand with Maryland Charter School Students for Fair Funding!
Join students, parents, and community members in a grassroots movement to demand equitable funding for all Maryland charter schools. This campaign advocates for greater transparency in how school funding formulas are developed and calls for a fair distribution of county revenues to every public school, charters included. Together, we can ensure every student, regardless of school type, has equal access to the quality educational resources they deserve.
No CSP funds, nor any other public grant funds, were used in connection with this advocacy campaign. |

Sample Language for Social Posts |
OPTION ONE: As a parent, I chose a Maryland charter school because I wanted my child to have the best chance at success in a special kind of public school—smaller class sizes, dedicated teachers, and an environment where they could thrive. But now that the future is at risk. I am calling on INSERT TAGS to make this right. Support ALL public school kids. #MDChartersCount OPTION TWO:
My child’s public school is being starved of the funding we are legally owed. Districts that control both the money and the authorization process are withholding resources, forcing charter schools like EXCEL Academy to close and putting others in jeopardy. This isn’t fair to families, to teachers, or most importantly—to our kids. INSERT TAG, please stand up for our children. #MDChartersCount OPTION THREE:
I’m speaking out because my child, and every child, deserves access to strong public schools that are properly funded. We cannot let misused laws and conflicts of interest take away opportunities from our children. Charter schools are public schools, and they deserve fair treatment. AT TAG, I am a taxpayer, and my kid’s public school, a charter school, deserves fair funding.#MDChartersCount OPTION FOUR:
As a community member, I’ve seen how Maryland charter schools bring hope, opportunity, and innovation to our neighborhoods. But now these public schools are being starved of the funding they are legally owed, forcing great schools like EXCEL Academy to close. This isn’t about politics—it’s about our kids and our future. I’m speaking out because #MDChartersCount. Let’s raise our voices together for fair funding. |

AFA MS Recruiting Show, Cabaret Preview Nov 18th: We have had an overwhelming response for this event, with over 800 students registered. At this point, registration is closed. I will be confirming reservations with schools that signed up so that you can get buses reserved. There are some schools on there twice, so I want to confirm a relative headcount. If needed, buses can be covered by Dr. Hirschmann through the VPA office. Please make sure to indicate that on your bus reservation. Coverage should be arranged in-house if possible. If you run into any issues getting coverage, please let me know.
