And just one more week until our winter break. Scholars have been finishing their iReady and ALEKS testing, which gives us valuable insights into their growth. Our numbers are looking very positive, so kudos to your scholar(s) for their hard work.
We would like to remind everyone that next Friday, 12/19, is our “Ugly Sweater” dress-down day. Scholars do not need to wear an ugly sweater (or a sweater at all) to participate, but all clothing must meet FCPS dress code standards. Tonight, Friday 12/12, many of our scholars will be representing the school in the Kris Kringle parade in Frederick. Feel free to give us a wave if you are in the crowd! |

Advocate for Charter School Funding |
This week, scholars brought home advocacy packets about an important funding issue affecting Maryland charter schools. The Maryland State Board of Education recently reviewed a new funding proposal that could impact schools statewide, including FCCS. Although the discussion began on December 9, public input is still needed over the next 30 days. We encourage families to speak up and share their concerns with state leaders. MAPCS has created a “Call to Action” with steps for contacting Governor Moore and the President of the Maryland State Board of Education, along with sample messages.
A digital copy of the materials is available on the FCCS website, or you can request one at by emailing bot@frederickclassicalcharterschool.org. Please note: This issue is separate from our ongoing funding case with FCPS. |
February 2026 is Advocacy Month |
FCCS is participating in Maryland Charter Advocacy Month this February! Staff, families, and scholars can learn about legislative issues affecting charter schools and discover ways to get involved.
Strengthen our collective voice and help ensure our students and staff are represented with clarity and unity. |
