Good afternoon everyone.
We hope you had a fantastic week. Our scholars certainly did not complain about a snow day on Monday followed by a two-hour early dismissal today. While this week was not quite as full as the last, there were still exciting happenings at Frederick Classical Charter School.
The proudest moment of my week was hearing how outstanding our scholars and families were on Advocacy Day. For those who may be unaware, on Wednesday, February 25th, many scholars from the National Junior Honor Society, along with their parents, traveled to Annapolis to share with our lawmakers how wonderful our school is and how much we need their continued support. Let us hope our scholars’ compelling testimonies bear fruit for the future of our school.
I would like to offer another reminder regarding carline etiquette and safety. Our morning carline is running smoothly for the most part. If you arrive by 8:00 a.m., you will almost certainly be in the first wave. Parking and crossing the carline on foot can be dangerous for both you and your scholar. If you need to park to walk your scholar in, such as when carrying items or assisting a scholar on crutches, please park on the sidewalk side past the carline cones. Be sure to wait for the next wave to stop before backing out. Also a reminder, please stay in your vehicle!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the PTC meeting this week. We had a great turnout. The PTC is a wonderful place to give input, help plan events, and stay informed about what is happening at FCCS. Together, we are Griffin Strong!
Looking ahead to next week, our 5th and 8th graders will take the MISA, the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment, which is a great opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. Our 6th grade scholars will attend outdoor school on Friday. Have a wonderful weekend! Mr. Conroy and Mr. Kenny |

Griffin’s Corner: Classical Principles Monthly |
|
|
|
We hope you have been enjoying our series, which brings Classical Principles to life each month. Along with Zeus, the Griffin, our beloved mascot, we explore one core classical principle through stories from both school and home. Our goal is to help families build daily habits and strengthen the school-home connection. This month’s principle is: Optimus Magister Bonus Liber Est – the best teacher is a good book!
Please enjoy, share, and leave us a like or comment. |

We were happy to connect with the community at the recent PTC meeting. If you were not able to attend, you can read the meeting notes here. Our next meeting will be held on March 26 @ 6:30pm, with both an in-person and virtual option.
At PTC meetings, parents can come together with Admin and volunteers to share their perspective, feedback, suggestions, praise, and concerns with the intent to continually grow as a school community. We will discuss upcoming PTC events, reflect on events of the past month, and share upcoming volunteer opportunities. |

Currently, we have 240+ overdue library books, along with several outstanding payments for damaged books. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring all library materials are returned promptly. Please note that scholars with outstanding fines for damaged books will not be permitted to check out additional books until their account has been cleared.
We also want to remind families to help scholars protect library books from water damage: |
- Keep books away from water bottles.
- Store books in a dry pocket of backpacks.
- Take extra care on rainy days.
|
If a book becomes damaged, please contact us as soon as possible at library@frederickclassicalcharterschool.org. The last day to check out books is May 16, 2026. Please ensure all library books are returned by this date. Thank you for helping us care for and maintain our school library collection for all FCCS scholars. |
